Delaware is currently a Democratic trifecta, meaning that party holds the governorship as well as a majority in both the state Senate and state House. Democrats control the state Senate with 12 seats to Republicans' nine seats. Democrats control the state House with 25 seats to Republicans' 15 seats.
Delaware has two U.S. Senate seats and one U.S. House seat. The U.S. House seat is up for election in November.
Delaware will elect a new governor in 2016.
Presidential primary elections in Delaware took place on April 26, 2016. Hillary Clinton won the Democratic primary with 59.8 percent of the vote. Donald Trump won the Republican primary with 60.8 percent. Barack Obama carried Delaware in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections.
